Description
The Alcamo winery tour with wine tasting at Chiarelli Rossotti begins with the estate's story, from its Arab fortress origins through the lands' development under Aragonese and Bourbon nobles. It lasts about two hours and is hosted in English by a native speaker.
A walk through the vineyard follows, on the hills of Alcamo with the Mediterranean in view, and it explains the Alcamo DOC area and its unusual wines. The estate is fully organic, home to horses, sheep, cows and bees.
Then comes a guided tasting of four organic wines, each from a native grape:
- Nero d'Avola
- Grillo
- Catarratto
- a sparkling Nero d'Avola made with the Metodo Ancestrale
Traditional Sicilian dishes accompany the wines: caponata, dried tomatoes, cheeses and breads, plus honey and olive oil made on the estate. Tell the winery about any allergies in advance. It suits anyone who likes wine paired with food and a bit of Sicilian history.
