Description
A Sallier de La Tour wine tasting near Palermo takes you to one of the five estates of the aristocratic Tasca d'Almerita family, in the upper Belice Valley. A member of the estate's hospitality team welcomes you and leads the visit, which lasts two hours and is in English.
The first stop is the old La Monaca cellar, an Art Nouveau building, where you learn how the estate came about and how its wines are made. Then you step out for a guided walk between the vines, where Inzolia, Grillo and Nero d'Avola ripen, and you hear how Syrah adapted to the Mediterranean climate and became part of the Monreale DOC.

- Seasonal local snacks, including olives and cheeses
- Extra virgin olive oil from the same estate to sample
The whites and the reds each show a different side of the area, and the food and oil round out a taste of Sicilian cooking. Transport to the estate and lunch are not included, so arrange how to get there in advance. The visit is not suitable for children under 18 or wheelchair users.
