Description
This private tour of Erice, Segesta and Trapani covers three very different faces of western Sicily in a day of about eight hours, with a driver who is yours alone. Fresh bottled water is provided.
The first stop is the Segesta Archaeological Park, where a Greek temple, one of the best preserved of its Doric kind, stands beside an ancient theatre looking over the landscape. Then the road climbs to Erice, a medieval town on a mountaintop, where you can walk its streets, see Venus Castle and look for the almond pastries it is known for.
- Segesta, temple and theatre
- Erice, its medieval lanes and Venus Castle
- The Trapani salt pans, where old windmills rise beside heaps of white salt mirrored in the Stagnone lagoon
The salt pans make a good last stop for photos. The tour is offered in English and Spanish, and pickup is part of the service. The service is a driver rather than a guide, and the entrance ticket to the Segesta park is not included.
