Description
ONLY ON MONDAYS, ALSO IN SPANISH.
A journey among the UNESCO treasures.
Be dazzled by the crystal-clear sea of Cefalù in the morning, and admire the majestic gold mosaics of Monreale in the afternoon.
Please note: a Spanish-speaking tour leader will be present only on Mondays.
The wonderful day begins by leaving the chaotic city of Palermo behind to travel along the scenic Tyrrhenian coast until you reach Cefalù, an authentic pearl of the Mediterranean. As you stroll through the narrow cobbled streets of the fabulous historic old town, you will be enchanted by the medieval views until you reach the spectacular Cathedral-Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which houses the island's first extraordinary Byzantine mosaics. During your free time, you can go as far as the charming old harbor, photograph the famous medieval washhouse carved into the rock, shop in the traditional artisan shops, or relax on the golden beach.
In the afternoon, the journey continues inland, climbing along the green slopes of Monte Caputo until you reach the monumental Monreale. Here you will visit the majestic Duomo, called the eighth wonder of the world: an architectural masterpiece that leaves anyone who crosses its threshold breathless, thanks to the more than 6,000 square meters of mosaics on a pure gold background that decorate its interior, dominated by the colossal figure of Christ Pantocrator. You will also have time to discover the evocative Benedictine Cloister, a jewel of medieval sculpture, and to look out and take in the spectacular panoramic view of the Conca d'Oro and Palermo from above.
This tour is the ideal choice for those seeking the convenience of organized, modern, and stress-free transportation, while maintaining complete freedom to explore the monuments and villages at their own pace, enjoying every moment before the final drop-off in Palermo.
