Description

A Palermo bike tour of about three hours with a local guide, from the old town to the harbour, ending with a tasting of panelle and crocchè in a group of up to 15.

The Palermo bike tour is a three-hour ride on two wheels through the old town and down to the sea, led by a local guide with no more than 15 riders in the group. Bikes and helmets are included, so you only need to bring some energy.

The ride begins at Discesa dei Giudici 13, in the historic centre. The route goes by Piazza Pretoria and its Renaissance fountain, the Quattro Canti, the Cathedral, and then the Norman Palace, with the square in front of the Parliament, where Norman and Byzantine art meet. After that come Teatro Massimo, the biggest opera house in Italy, and the Trapezoidal Pier, with the harbour and open water in front of you.

  • Villa Garibaldi, a leafy break in the middle of the city
  • The old harbour of La Cala
  • A street food stop with panelle, made of chickpea, and crocchè, the potato croquettes

The tasting is only a bite of local flavour and does not replace a meal. Entry to the Palermo Marina Yachting is part of the ride, and so is a small bottle of water. Tips and hotel pick-up are not included. Tell the organisers your height when you book, and any food intolerances. The tour is in English and is not suitable for pregnant women, wheelchair users or people with back problems or epilepsy.
