Description

An anti-mafia walking tour in Palermo's Kalsa district: ten sites, three of them crime scenes, and the story of Falcone, Borsellino and those who resisted.

The anti-mafia walking tour in Palermo is an evening of about three hours through Kalsa, the old district where Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino were born and grew up. A live guide takes you to ten places, and three of them are where real mafia crimes happened.

The other sites belong to the anti-mafia movement and to the urban renewal of the quarter. The guide tells the story of the people and organisations that fought Cosa Nostra and still do, and you can ask questions about what is being done in Sicily today.

The tour also separates the origins of Cosa Nostra from the myths around it, and shows how shallow its historical roots are. Kalsa itself is a lively place, with layers of history at every corner.

  • Walk of 1.6 km, mostly in the shade
  • A café stop halfway, with optional refreshments
  • A list of books and films, and a food map of Kalsa

The tour is in English and is not suitable for wheelchair users.
