Embark on an unforgettable Sicilian adventure! Be ready at your designated pickup point by 7:45 am to start your journey. We'll whisk you away through the heart of Sicily, heading towards Agrigento and its breathtaking Valley of the Temples. Prepare to be amazed by this UNESCO World Heritage site! You'll have two hours to explore independently, using an audio guide to delve into the history of the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concordia, the Temple of Hercules, and the awe-inspiring Temple of Zeus. Did you know that legend credits Daedalus and Icarus with Agrigento's founding, following their escape from Crete? While the legend is captivating, historical records reveal its establishment by Rhodian-Cretan colonists in 582 BC, naming their city Akragas after a nearby river. This city flourished under tyrants like Phalaris and Theron, eventually expanding its influence across northern Sicily. Afterward, we'll travel to Piazza Armerina to discover another hidden gem: the Roman Villa of Casale, another UNESCO World Heritage site, and its extraordinary mosaic floors. Built in the 4th century AD, this opulent villa remained hidden until 20th-century excavations revealed its splendor. Explore approximately 3500 square meters of breathtaking mosaics, showcasing the unparalleled luxury of a Roman villa and offering a glimpse into the lives of the Roman Empire's elite. Information boards in each room will guide your exploration. Finally, we'll head to Syracuse, with an estimated arrival time of around 6:45 pm (traffic permitting). Please note: A minimum of two participants is required for the tour to operate.
