Description
This Palermo ghost and crime walking tour shows you the other side of the old centre: the side of legends, vendettas and poisoners, told by a local guide over about 90 minutes and after dark.
The walk begins around Quattro Canti, the Baroque junction where authority, religion and old beliefs once rubbed shoulders. From there it goes to Piazza Pretoria and its so-called Fountain of Shame, with stories of passion, revenge and the most prolific poisoner in history.
Food keeps the mood lighter. You stop at simple, genuine spots for small tastings, among them an arancina and a drink from the area, and the evening closes in Piazza della Marina, next to the former seat of the Inquisition, over a typical Sicilian dessert.
- Crime stories and legends of the historic centre
- Tastings of Sicilian street food
- A guide who knows the city's history and folklore
It suits curious travellers who like folklore and dark history. Mafia stories are not the focus here. The streets are narrow and can be uneven, so it is not suitable for people with mobility impairments or heart problems. Getting to the meeting point is up to you.
