Description
This Segesta and Erice day trip from Palermo covers the western part of Sicily in about ten hours, travelling by air-conditioned coach so that you can enjoy the scenery without driving.
The first stop is Castellammare del Golfo, a seaside village between the rocks and a turquoise sea, with a panoramic viewpoint. After that the coach continues to Segesta, an archaeological site set among wild hills, where the Doric temple still stands and an ancient theatre is carved into the rock above the valley.
The last stop is Erice, a medieval village on top of Mount San Giuliano. You can wander the cobbled lanes, look at the Castle of Venus, visit pottery workshops, or pause at a historic pastry shop for almond sweets. From the top your eye can travel across the Trapani salt flats as far as the Egadi islands.
