Description
The Sant'Antonio Fountain is a Baroque fountain built in 1635 by Mariano Smiriglio and Vincenza La Barbera, initially located near the Sant'Antonio gate on Via Maqueda.
Due to the elimination of the gate, the fountain was moved to Piazza Alberigo Gentili in 1875, where it still stands today. The fountain, with its typically Baroque style, consists of a large, quadrilobate-shaped basin at its base. Above it are three smaller basins surrounded by cherubs and mermaids.
