Description
This is a terrace, built in the 19th century, located between Porta Felice and Piazza Kalsa. The term “Cattive” derives from the Latin “Captivae”, meaning “prisoners”, used to identify widows (in Sicilian, widow is also called 'cattiva'), who were considered prisoners of the grief that mourning brought.
For this reason, the terrace was used for their walks, which allowed them to keep a certain distance from the traditional walk that took place along the nearby Foro Italico. At the entrance adjacent to Porta Felice, two herms were placed, executed in 1827 by Girolamo Bagnasco.
