Description

Via Ruggero Settimo is one of the main streets in Palermo. Together with the perpendicular streets Principe di Belmonte and Generale Magliocco, it is considered the heart of Palermo. It extends for about 350 meters from, following the direction of travel, Via Libertà to Via Maqueda, and the only major artery that cuts through it is Via Mariano Stabile, where the two streets create the so-called Quattro Canti di Campagna, opposite the Quattro Canti di città located further along the same axis.

The street was made famous by the shops that lined it, which were among the most luxurious in the city. Today, the most important designer brands are located on Viale della Libertà. On Sundays, it is closed to vehicular traffic, becoming a pedestrian zone, a solution that the municipality implemented permanently by 2008.
