Description

Built in 1905 by Mayor Bonanno, who gave it its name, Villa Bonanno is a magnificent, always open public garden located in Piazza della Vittoria, behind the Palazzo dei Normanni.

In the garden - planted with palm trees - statues and busts of illustrious Palermo figures are visible. Also in the garden, remains of Roman patrician houses with mosaics have been found: notable are the mosaics of the seasons and of Orpheus, now preserved at the National Archaeological Museum.

Adjacent to the villa stands the fountain with the monument to Philip V, a 19th-century work by Nunzio Morello. It seems that the fountain was designed in 1661 by Carlo d’Aprile, with the participation of the Serpotta family.
