Description
Villa Trabia, also known as Casena dei Trabia alle Terre Rosse, was built in the 18th century by Ignazio Lucchesi Palli, Prince of Campofranco. In 1814, Giuseppe Lanza Branciforti, Prince of Trabia and Butera, acquired the Casena and its garden. The villa includes a small 17th-century park and an 18th-century building.
The classic-style building consists of a large central body on two levels and two lateral wings, which enclose a small courtyard, at the center of which is the entrance.
The garden, laid out like a botanical garden, features robinia, araucaria, oleander, conifers, palms, ficus magnolioides, and oak trees, totaling 2,790 plant species in 1910 (now about 150 species).
Today, the Villa houses the Tourism Office of the City of Palermo and a public library with a video library and free internet access.
