Discover the best of Agrigento from Palermo: Sciacca, the white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi and the Valley of the Temples lit up after sunset.
Discover the best of Agrigento in one unforgettable day from Palermo, built around the smartest way to see southern Sicily: reaching the Valley of the Temples at the end of the day, when the site is illuminated, the air is cooler and the crowds are gone.
The day runs on two timetables, and the one that applies to your date is shown when you book. From April to October we leave Palermo at 12:00 and return around midnight, skipping the hottest hours entirely. From November to March we leave at 10:00 and are back around 8:00 pm, because in winter the park closes at 8:00 pm. In that season sunset falls inside the visit, so you see the Valley first in the golden light and then under its night lighting, in the same walk.
Your day starts with a scenic drive to Sciacca, one of the most authentic seaside towns in western Sicily. Famous for its colorful ceramics, coral tradition and fishing culture, it is the perfect place to discover a side of Sicily that still feels genuine. You will walk through the historic center and have time for shopping directly from local craftsmen.
After lunch we continue to the Scala dei Turchi area, one of Sicily's most iconic coastal landscapes, known for its white cliffs and dramatic views. In summer this is a beach stop: a beach club with sunbeds at your own expense, or the free beach, with time to swim. In winter there is no swimming: the stop is for the walk along the shore, the views and the photographs, which in the low winter light are arguably better than in August.
Then comes the aperitivo at sunset, overlooking the sea and the cliffs. In summer we go up to Capo Rossello. In winter the Belvedere Kainon there is closed, so the aperitivo takes place at Scala dei Turchi itself. In both seasons the aperitivo is at your own expense: we take you to the spot, you choose what to order.
The grand finale is the Valley of the Temples. Instead of visiting during the hottest and most crowded hours, you discover it at the end of the day, with the temples lit against a dark sky: a setting very few day trips from Palermo actually offer.
The entrance ticket is not included and is paid on site. We do this to avoid overcharging guests, since many visitors are entitled to reduced tickets depending on age or student status.
An optional official guided tour inside the Valley with a licensed guide may be available. It is run by the Valley of the Temples itself and is subject to availability. If it is not available, the visit still takes place with your Epic Sicily tour leader, who accompanies the group all day.
At the end we drive back to Palermo: around 11:00 pm in summer, around 8:00 pm in winter.
