Description
The Cefalù and Monreale day trip from Palermo lasts about nine hours and has one choice built in: when you book, you decide how to spend your time in Cefalù. Travel is by Mercedes minivan or minibus in a group of at most 16, with an English-speaking driver.
The road follows the northern coast to Cefalù, a seaside town with a golden beach, medieval streets and a Norman cathedral. The two options are alternatives, not extras.
- Boat trip option: a cruise along the Cefalù coast with swimming, snorkelling where conditions allow and an aperitivo on board
- Free time option: the old centre, the beach, the cathedral or lunch at your own pace
The boat depends on the weather. When the sea says no, free time in Cefalù replaces it, with a partial refund where applicable. Tell the operator about food allergies in advance if you pick the boat with aperitivo.
After Cefalù the van turns inland to Monreale. You visit its Arab-Norman cathedral on your own, with an audioguide on your phone through an app, and take in its gold mosaics and Biblical scenes. There is no tour guide on board; lunch, extra drinks and tips are not included, nor is hotel pickup. Not suitable for wheelchair users.
